Almhaus Herzstück

Sit on the wooden bench, let your gaze wander over the green Lavanttal or simply watch the cows grazing around the hut - the heart of the Almhaus makes it possible. For children, the fenced-in meadows become an adventure playground, where they can romp barefoot through the alpine grass and in the evenings fry barbecue over the fire.

The Alpine house in a remote location is the perfect starting point for sports, excursions and hikes in the Carinthian-Styrian border area. The well-paved gravel road is easy to drive in both summer and winter. Thanks to the optimal transport connections, hotspots like Graz or Klagenfurt can be reached in just an hour. The Hebalm local recreation area with the Hebalmsee, the Nova thermal baths in Köflach or the Lippizaner Stud Piber, the Koralm and Klippitztörl skiing and hiking areas or the western Styrian hills with Buschenschenken and pumpkin seed oil specialties. Directly behind the Almhaus Herzstück lies the forest - mushroom paradise.

At over 1,078 m above sea level, Preitenegg is the highest municipality in the Wolfsberg district. The municipal area is located in the northeastern part of the Lavanttal and borders on Western Styria. The hilly mountains invite you to enjoy leisurely hiking and mountain biking (e.g. to the Unterauerlinger Hütte, the Freiländerhütte or the Knödelhütte). If you like longer tours, we recommend the seven-hut hike around the Hirschegger Alpe, six hours of walking time, seven huts (including Schrotthütte, Bernsteiner Hütte, Saureis Hütte, Görlitzer Hütte, Liedl Hütte). On the Hebalm you will find the Via Alpina (stage A18 and A19), a cross-border hiking trail that leads through eight Alpine states with 342 day tours. On the Hebalm you also cross the Koralm Crystal Trail, which offers eight hikes (between 3.5 and 7 hours) in the Lavanttal Alps.
Tennis fans welcome - the double clay court at the Preitenegg Tennis Club is open daily from 8 a.m. The reservation list is available at the Hanslwirt inn in Preitenegg.
The summer toboggan run on the Klippitztörl or the beach volleyball court on the Hebalm offer fun for big and small adventurers.

The Almhaus Herzstück is located in the nearby (approx. 10 minutes by car) the family-friendly ski area “Klug Lifte Hebalm - Freiländeralm”.
This ski area "Klug Lifte Hebalm - Freiländeralm" offers you:

• 4 kilometers of slopes
• 5 km of cross-country ski trails
• 1 toboggan run with toboggan rental
• great activities for children, such as “Pokemon Forest Run”

Alternative ski areas would be the Klippitztörl ski area, the Modriach-Winkel ski area, the Salzstiegl ski area or the St. Hemma ski area.
To relax, you can visit the Therme Nova with its sauna area, sports pool and wellness area.
